My father said my inability in maths was predestined by genetics. He said he didn't expect me to be good at maths because he wasn't, and neither was Mum. He knew a lot about electronics and could write and draw. He'd studied art at Swinburne Technical College when he finished school, but when the war came he went to the Marconi School of Radio. He taught himself to send Morse code with his right hand while writing with his left. Mum learned tailoring and pattern making and sewed tents on an industrial sewing machine during the war. Afterwards she practised various arts and crafts.
Australia's first topical satirical show, The Mavis Bramstin Show, starring Gordon Chater, Carol Raye and Barry Creyton, produced.
'The Beatles' toured Australia to scenes of hysterical welcome.
Robert Helpman produced his ballet The Display for the Adelaide Festival.
