Purpose:
My purpose is to tell you the story of my life in relation to other living entities, in the context of local and world events, and disruptions to natural cycles of climate that maintain natural balance between plants and animals.
How grand! How ambitious! Clearly not a story one can tell alone. So my story reflects interactions with family and friends, with scientists, artists and others who freely shared their knowledge, from Indigenous cultural practices, the Western scientific method, and lived experience.
I distinguish Indigenous science from Western science and equally respect them: Indigenous science for providing experience of our selves as part of nature through cultural arts that embody knowledge for care for country and community; Western science for creative experiments designed to find largely unambiguous answers to complex problems, and for its null results that can nonetheless inspire further questions for more creative explorations.
